Each year the Fund provides $3 million in grant support to accelerate innovative early-stage health and medical research and fast-track the translation of promising projects into real-world outcomes. This year a $2 million mRNA-specific stream is also available to accelerate RNA-based therapeutics research.

Round 5 of the Fund will be delivered in two tiers:

Tier 1: Early-stage research – Supporting innovative early-stage research that will deliver health and economic benefits to Victoria.

Tier 2: Research translation – Providing direct funding to fast-track the translation of health and medical research into real-world outcomes.

In both streams, projects led by women or that can show a 50/50 gender split in their research teams will be prioritised to help address underrepresentation of women in health and medical research. Full details of this provision can be found in the Program Guidelines.

Applications will be open until 17 December 2021.
