The Decadal Plan provides a national, evidence-based roadmap to address gender inequities that limit leadership, innovation, and workforce sustainability across Australia’s health and medical sciences sector. With women comprising 52% of the workforce but only 26% of the most senior roles, coordinated action is critical to strengthen capability and embed equity into policy and investment settings.
“I commend this important report and roadmap to the MACH community,” said MACH Executive Director, Professor Sir John Savill.
“MACH is committed to promoting gender equity across our partnership’s research workforce. For example, of 47 trainees appointed to MACH-Track since its inception, 62% are female, with the corresponding figures for MacHSR Fellows being 79% of 39,” he continued.
The AAHMS report sets out strategic opportunities to drive progress over the coming decade and deliver meaningful progress towards a future-ready health and medical sciences system.
