After the success of the inaugural 2023 Symposium, the 2024 Emerging Leaders of Biomedical Research in Melbourne Symposium: Advancing Discovery2 will again serve as a platform to bring together multidisciplinary postdoctoral researchers to share their latest research findings, fostering collaboration and innovation within the field. Plenary speakers include Dr. Anna Trigos from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre with others TBA.

Abstract Submission

The organising committee invites post-doctoral researchers (up to 10 years post-PhD) across Victoria to submit an abstract to this inaugural event. Abstracts should be submitted here. Abstract submission submissions close COB Wednesday 14th August 2024.

Presentation format:

Abstracts will be selected for one of the following types of presentation:

Oral presentation, lightning oral presentation, or poster presentation.

 

  • Abstracts should represent original work.
  • Abstracts should be written with a broad biomedical audience in mind (minimise jargon and unfamiliar abbreviations).
  • Abstracts are limited to 300 words, excluding author(s) names, affiliations, organisations and references
  • Presenting authors must be available for face-to-face abstract or poster presentation.
  • A brief biography (≤100 words) must be submitted with the abstract
  • Submissions close COB Wednesday 14th August 2024

Prizes will be awarded for the best presentations in each session as judged by the chairs.

The Melbourne Emerging Leaders in Biomedical Research Society comprises postdoctoral researchers from 12 leading biomedical research institutes in Melbourne, including the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Hudson Institute of Medical Research, Peter Doherty Institute, St Vincent’s Institute, Monash Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute, The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, Centre for Eye Research Australia, Biomedicine Discovery Institute, Baker Institute and the Burnet Institute.
